Do my files pass through or get saved on any server?

No. Nearsend is strictly a peer-to-peer (P2P) platform. The signaling server is only used to exchange temporary session tokens and WebRTC handshake coordinates. Once connected, your files, text, and clipboard stream directly between your devices via WebRTC DataChannels in 64KB encrypted chunks.

How does the Voice Pairing work securely?

When you generate a voice pairing phrase, the host device creates an ephemeral 3-minute token. When spoken on the guest device, browser speech recognition converts the acoustic phrase into the token. The server validates the match and immediately triggers an explicit confirmation prompt on the host device before any connection is allowed.

Does Nearsend work across different operating systems?

Is there a file size limit on Nearsend?

Trimmed the JavaScript the app needs before it becomes interactive by loading a few rarely-used pieces — the confetti animation, QR code generation, and QR scanning — only when they’re actually used instead of on every visit.
August 30, 2026 — Improved: Stronger security headers
Added HSTS, a strict Content-Security-Policy, and related headers to harden the site against common web attacks like content-type sniffing and clickjacking.
August 28, 2026 — New: Folder transfers now show one clear approval, not one per file
Sending a folder used to prompt the recipient once per file inside it. It now shows a single folder summary with one Accept/Decline choice, a combined progress bar with a file count, and — if a handful of items fail partway through — a "Retry Failed Files" option instead of restarting the whole transfer.
